A learning experience for an International Student at Bow Valley College far exceeds the study experience found in the traditional classroom. Bow Valley College is proud of its diverse faculty, staff and students who host a variety of events, activities and workshops throughout the academic year for members of the BVC community. The emphasis on community connectedness and cultural awareness is highlighted during the International Education week held in November of each year. The International Education Department supports the promotion interactive events and activities enabling international students to gain from their Canadian experience while enhancing skills that will benefit their learning experience.

The Students Association of Bow Valley College (SABVC) provides a positive campus community and exceptional support services for all BVC learners. Student can join the students’ council and participate in directing the overall goals of the Students Association. SABVC supports students who wish to start a club and provides opportunities for students to sharpen their leadership, organization and communication skills.

The International Student Club is one of the most active student clubs at Bow Valley College. The club is a platform for international student interaction and to help students adjust while studying and living in Canada. International Students form the Executive Team to operate the club and coordinate activities and events. Students build friendships and amazing experience through activities including visiting historical, cultural places, Calgary Stampede, going extreme Trampoline Park, roller skating or watching a 3D movie together. The club is active on Facebook to connect international students with resources, updated events and activities.

International student can also take advantage of opportunities offered to the entire BVC community. The Intercultural Centre has a year round active schedule for cultural events and workshops – this includes public speaking workshops and volunteering opportunities. The Student Affairs Office provides Leadership Development workshops where the primary focus is on gaining leadership skills in preparation for the workforce.

Students at Bow Valley College find themselves surrounded with opportunities for skills learning, community engagement and professional development. Bow Valley College values the extra-curricular activities available for students to fulfill their dream for better education and better career.
